The Statistics Study of Admission Patients to the Oriental Medical Hospital due to Traffic Accident

Abstract
|
|
|
Objective: The purpose of this study are to find out the characteristic of patients who had admitted due to traffic accident and to promote the superiority of oriental medical treatment on the sequelae of traffic accident.
Method: We analyzed statistical study in 59 patients, who had admitted to Dept. of oriental rehabilitation medicine, Kangnam oriental medical hospital, Dong Guk University from July, 2000 to June, 2001 according to medical charts.
Results and Conclusions:
1. In distribution of sex and age, the rate of male was 35.6%, and that of female was 64.4%. Thirties numbered the most(13.5%) among males, and twenties numbered the most(22.0%) among females.
2. In distribution of residence, the patient who reside in Seoul numbered the most(84.7%), and who reside in Kang-nam Gu numbered the most(30.5%) among Seoul citizen.
3. In distribution of admission day, October was the most(13.5%), followed by November(11.7%), and April was the least(3.4%).
4. In distribution of onset, less than 5 days was the most(32.2%), followed by less than 2 days(27.1%), less than 10 days(15.2%). In distribution of organization of first choice, clinic is the most(13.5%) among less than 2 days and hospital is the most(13.5%) among less than 5 days.
5. In distribution of diseases, the most was C-spine sprain(72.9%), followed by L-spine sprain(55.9%), knee joint sprain(16.9%) and upper limb sprain(16.9%).
6. Mean admission days is 33.2 days, and in distribution of admission patient’s disease, rib fracture numbered the most(136 days), followed by patella fracture(79 days), compression fracture(26.5 days), contusion of head(26 days), HNP of L-spine(17.8 days).
